Walkers should be aware of the prevalence of ticks in the New Forest and the dangers of contracting Lyme disease.  For information on prevention and symptoms of the disease, please click here.  (In order to view this brochure you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, a special browser 'plug-in'.  If you do not already have it, this can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website.)  Campaigners at Tick Alert are conducting the first-ever public survey of ticks in the UK and abroad.  They are concerned that global warming is causing the tick to spread further across Europe and to survive beyond its usual spring/summer life-cycle.  For more information and to take part in the survey visit www.masta.com/tickalert.
